H. S. Doreswamy
Harohalli Srinivasaiah Doreswamy , father Srinivasa Iyer died at the age of 5, grandfather was his guardian. After completing the primary school education, he came to Bangalore. A book "My Early Life" of Mahatma Gandhi influenced him to join Freedom Movement. During intermediate college education, he attended a freedom awareness program at Banappa Park, Cubbon Pete, where the leader was arrested. Next day, strike was called by the students. And then lathi charged by police.
==Entry to Freedom Movement==
Many Leaders were coming to Bangalore during that time. By 1942, he had completed B.Sc and had joined as a lecturer. In August, Quit India freedom movement started, where students participated vastly. He along with his brother H S Seetharam and Sardar Venkataramaiah, A G Ramachandra Rao planned moving together against the British. H. S. Seetharam later become a Mayor of Bangalore. They used to create Time Bomb which was used to damage governmental documents. On the first time, he was jailed for 14 months, where he decided to follow Gandhi's Ideal. He established a Book Store and Publishing Depot, where literates like R. K. Narayan, K.S. Narasimhaswamy used to visit. It was actually a cultural center of those days.
In 1947, in his last independence movement Mysore Challo Movement, his newspaper published many articles against government. Eventually, the government took control of the press and seized it. a teacher named Sheshagiri helped circulating newspaper during this press closure.〔http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMYe0S6PQgo〕
